“Housing pirates” - also called hotel poachers or housing bandits - are unauthorized companies that contact attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer discounted hotel rooms for conferences, expos, or events. They often falsely claim to be affiliated with the event organizer and/or the SOA Official Housing Company managing the room blocks but are not authorized to sell or book rooms.

If you receive a housing offer that doesn’t come with your registration confirmation, treat it with caution. Use only the housing information provided by the event organizer to avoid scams and ensure you have a confirmed, convenient room.
